Jennifer Lawrence shares ‘extremely isolating’ postpartum struggles

Jennifer Lawrence shared her postpartum struggles after becoming a new mom.

The actress talked about the parallels of her character, Grace, from the movie Die, My Love. In the film, Lawrence develops postpartum depression and enters psychosis.

“As a mother, it was really hard to separate what I would do as opposed to what she would do. And it was just heartbreaking.”

The Hunger Games star is a mother to two children with her 40-year-old husband, Cooke Maroney – a three-year-old son, Cy, and a newborn.

The 34-year-old added, “I had just had my firstborn, and there’s not anything like postpartum. It’s extremely isolating, which is so interesting.”

Jennifer Lawrence revealed, “But the truth is, extreme anxiety and extreme depression are isolating, no matter where you are. You feel like an alien.”

Speaking of her motherhood, the Oscar Award winner said, “It changes your whole life. It’s brutal and incredible. So not only do they go into every decision of if I’m working, where I’m working, when I’m working, they’ve taught me — I mean, I didn’t know that I could feel so much and my job has a lot to do with emotion,” the “Mother!”

Lawrence, who filed the film Die, My Love while five months pregnant, told the outlet, “It’s almost like feeling a blister or something — like, so sensitive. So they’ve changed my life, obviously, for the best and they’ve changed me creatively. I highly recommend having kids if you want to be an actor.”

Lawrence became a mom for the first time in February 2022 after welcoming son Cy, while the gender of her second child has yet to be disclosed.
